Most Rev. Lucas Abadamloora was born on the 22nd December 1938 at Chiana in the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese. He was the first of six children of his parents.
Bishop Abadamloora started school at the Saint Paul’s Primary Boarding School in Navrongo in 1948 and continued at the Saint Mary’s Middle School, Navrongo for two years and later to the Charles Borromeo’s Minor Seminary where he obtained his Ordinary Level certificate.
He enrolled at the Government Secondary School at Tamale now Tamale Senior High after which he pursued numerous academic laurels.
He was ordained into priesthood on3rd August, 1968. After a short period as Curate of the sirigu Parish, Fr. Abadamloora left for the Pontifical University, Rome in 1969 for further studies in Moral Theology.
He obtained the MA Degree in Religious Studies from Lancaster University, Great Britain in 1974.
He returned to Ghana and lectured at St. Victor’s Seminary for some years before he was appointed as the Catholic Administrator of the Diocese in 1989.
Bishop Abadamloora was nominated on March 30, 1994, as Bishop Elect to succeed the Right Reverend Rudolph Akanlu who had resigned as Bishop on health grounds. Bishop Abadamloora was consequently consecrated and enthroned Bishop of the diocese on the solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, on Wednesday June 29, 1994, to become the third Bishop of Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese since its elevation.
One of his major concerns was the minimizing of HIV and AIDS pandemic in the area. He is noted for inviting the Catholic Relief Service (CRS) to his Diocese to provide care and preventive services.
Prior to his death last December, he was the President of the Catholic Bishops Conference.
Most Reverend Abadamloora died on December 23rd 2009 a day after he celebrated his 71st birthday.
He was buried on 16th January, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral at Bolgatanga.
