The Beacon International Magazine is a laity publication on the Catholic faith and the African Church.
It is published by Mc. Rufus Company Limited. The Beacon International Catholic Magazine has as its primary aim the dissemination of vital Catholic information on doctrine, faith, health and every day life.
Ours is one of the first laity efforts in Catholic publication for local and international markets on the African continent. The Beacon story started in January 2002 in response to the call by Pope John Paul II for all Catholics to be involved in evangelism. The formal presentation was held on saturday, April 27, 2002 at Rita Lori Hotels in Lagos, Nigeria.
The Beacon International Catholic Magazine is solely financed with personal resources of Steve and Tonia Alabi. The magazine started as a print version which we kept going for five years. Due to financial constraints and lack of advertising support from corporate bodies due to the religious nature of the content and the attendant astronomical cost of distribution, we had to rest the publication for some time.
The desire to keep the dream alive remained uppermost on our minds and as such, we decided to have the online version pending a relauch of the print version which will be distributed freely.
The magazine's scope cover diverse areas such as faith, the Church, doctrine, news and
everyday life experiences.
We shall continue to live up to our promise of giving a well packaged Catholic
magazine to our readers while maintaining the highest level of profes
sionalism, aesthetic values, respect for human dignity and a wholesome representation of the Catholic Faith. |
